IP phones can be simple software-based softphones or purpose-built hardware devices that appear much like an ordinary telephone or a cordless phone. Traditional PSTN phones are used as VoIP phones with analog telephone adapters (ATA).

  • There is considerable confusion in the world of IP Telephony and VoIP {Voice over Internet Protocol}
  • IP Telephony refers to converting your legacy TDM Telephony environment into an IP Server environment. This involves either a migration strategy or forklift
  • Real Migration strategies differentiate IP Telephony experts like Converged Telecoms from Traditional Telephony providers. They also seperate us from “IT” companies attempting to move into the voice or telephony space. Migration solutions are complex and require highly skilled engineers to roll-out. It is the process of marrying old legacy equipment with next generation IP servers.

VoIP is purely a cost saving exercise and is not reliant on IP Telephony to work.
